Details: Citric acid ester is produced by esterifying citric acid and ethanol (alcohol). Citric acid ester belongs to the group of enzyme inhibitors, substances that inhibit the enzymatic breakdown of sweat. Citric acid ester thus prevents the formation of odor.
Citric acid ester is also used in creams and lotions; it acts as a spreading agent and penetration enhancer (absorbs faster and spreads better). These properties are especially valued in sunscreen formulations.
Citric acid ester also has antimicrobial properties and supports preservatives.
Application concentration: 1 - 5%
Processing: Heat in the fat phase or incorporate into the finished formulation. If citric acid ester is to be used as an active ingredient in aqueous-alcoholic deodorant formulations, a solubilizer, such as Softfeel G10 LW, is required. Soluble in oil and alcohol, very sparingly soluble in water.
Uses: Deodorant ingredient, deodorizing wash lotions, dispersing aid for SoFi Tix, in sunscreen products.
