Four steps to your dream lawn
1. Prepare the soil
Before sowing, dig the soil thoroughly. Remove any stones and large roots. To improve the soil structure, you can add peat to sandy soils and sand to clay soils. Afterward, let the area rest for two to three weeks. Afterward, dig up the soil and crumble it evenly.
2. Sow seeds and fertilizer
The soil temperature must be at least 10°C. This is when the seeds germinate optimally. Early May or mid-September is ideal for sowing. In autumn, the soil has warmed up from the summer, and rain showers reduce the need for watering. Even sowing is crucial, and our spreaders and universal spreaders are ideal for this. They not only spread the seeds but also our starter fertilizer. Perfect for optimal germination.
3. Water regularly
Ensure adequate moisture, especially during the first three weeks after sowing. The soil surface must not dry out, as this would also dehydrate the sensitive lawn seedlings. Therefore, during dry periods, water several times a day, i.e., up to five times for 10 minutes each time. Distribute the water gently and evenly without silting the soil, and avoid puddles.
4. The first cut
As soon as the young, tender stalks have grown to 8–10 cm tall, it's time for the first mowing. However, the cut shouldn't be too short. At least 5 cm is ideal for the first time.
