The inner bag is simply immersed in cold water, whereupon the crystals it contains form a gel. You then place the cooled insulin inside, and an evaporative system keeps it cool. The included outer bag protects the surrounding items in your handbag or suitcase. FRIO bags make life easier for insulin-dependent diabetics and can be reused many times. FRIO bags are also useful for medications that cannot exceed room temperature, e.g., insulin, adrenaline, Norvir, glaucoma drops, and Nitrolingual pump spray. All bags have a hollow space, not a subdivision. The dimensions given are those of the inner bag. If you have a digital/metal pen, you will need an additional nylon inner pocket. This protects against moisture and is available for all FRIO bags.
